Why

In many regions around the world, stray dog and cat populations are growing faster than shelters can keep up. Unneutered animals often lead harsh lives on the streets, marked by constant pregnancies, exhaustion, disease and malnutrition. Spaying It Forward exists to break this vicious cycle of overpopulation and provide communities with accessible veterinary care.

Impact

Mission & goals

Spaying It Forward’s mission is to create a world where no dog or cat has to be born unwanted on the streets. Its main goals are:

  • Humane population control: Providing high-quality, free or affordable spaying and neutering projects for stray animals and pets belonging to low-income families.
  • Preventive healthcare: Vaccinating and deworming animals during spay and neuter campaigns to stop the spread of deadly diseases such as rabies.
  • Education and awareness: Teaching owners and local communities about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
  • Capacity building: Working closely with and training local veterinarians to strengthen sustainable veterinary care in the area.
Actions
  • Mobile spay/neuter clinics: Setting up temporary, mobile operating rooms in remote or low-income areas with little to no access to veterinary care.
  • Vaccination and treatment campaigns: Every animal that is spayed or neutered also receives essential vaccinations, parasite treatment and care for any wounds.
  • Working with local shelters: Supporting local shelters by spaying or neutering their animals free of charge, so they can be adopted more quickly and in better health.
  • Community outreach: Visiting neighborhoods to provide information and help residents transport their animals to the clinic.
