The Emergency Flood Relief Fund Sri Lanka is an initiative that was established in November 2025 after the devastating floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah. The goal is to quickly provide families and communities in severely affected areas with basic needs and assistance so they can survive and recover.
Due to heavy rainfall and flooding in 2025, numerous regions in Sri Lanka were submerged. Homes were destroyed, roads, bridges, and infrastructure were damaged; thousands of families lost their homes or lost access to clean water, food, and medical services.
The government and local services are overwhelmed – that's why this emergency fund was created to provide quick and flexible assistance in areas that are otherwise hard to reach or neglected.
Mission: To provide immediate emergency relief and basic necessities to those affected by floods and natural disasters in Sri Lanka — with respect for dignity and human rights.
Goals:
Through the online campaign on GoFundMe, funds are being raised to directly finance relief goods and services – from food and water to medical supplies and shelter.
Collaboration with local actors: the organization is calling for donations and coordinating aid through local networks to ensure that support actually reaches those in need, even in hard-to-reach villages.
Distribution of emergency packages (dry rations, clean drinking water, hygiene products), basic medical assistance, and – where necessary – temporary shelter.
